Personal Bankruptcies Still Down
From a Year Ago

Lenders are undoubtedly pleased that personal bankruptcies continue to lag behind last year’s pace. Using data compiled from courthouse records, the National Bankruptcy Research Center (Lundquist Consulting, Burlingame, CA) reports that through the first 3 months of 2004 (as of March 27), personal bankruptcy filings are down 2.7% from the same period in 2003. The chart below displays week-by-week filings over the past four years.
