Robert W. Johnson was the founder of the Credit Research Center and is currently a Senior Research Associate with the Center. He holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School and a Ph.D. from Northwestern University. His research interests and publications center on consumer credit, with emphasis on issues of public policy and credit management. Consistent with that focus, he served as Reporter-Economist in the drafting of the Uniform Consumer Credit Code and as a presidential appointee to the National Commission on Consumer Finance. He was the principal investigator under a large grant from the National Science Foundation on the project: "The Effects of Public Regulation on Consumer Financial Services." Dr. Johnson has taught or lectured in various credit industry programs in the US and overseas and has testified frequently on public policies related to consumer credit before legislative committees at both the state and federal levels. He has served as a consultant to various divisions of the Federal Reserve Board and the Federal Trade Commission, as well as a number of firms engaged in consumer credit.
